power heads??

hey im awaiting delivery of a 400 litre (100 u.s gallon) tank and am just ordering equiptment, can anyone adive me on the amount/power of the power heads i need? thanks

 

10 times the volume for FO, 20 times for softie, LPS or mixed and 30+ times for SPS dominant.

 

if its the standard 60" long, I believe you should be aiming in the neighborhood of 3000 gph water movement. Two koralia evolution 1400's would be minimum.

 

ok cool, so im gonna have mostly soft coral n fish i think, do u think one or two powerheads?

no prob. i'm assuming you're not doing a closed loop or running anything higher than 600gph on a return pump.

are you running a sump? I was referring to the flow you'll get on the return pump if you are running a sump because you can incorporate that into total flow as well.

 

ah right ok, yeah its running a sump, with a 2000litres per hour pump, what do u think?

 

I think you'll have more than enough movement with the two koralias.
