Would a tunze wave make be enough for the tank or would I need powerheads as well?

So is your rock work breaking down the flow? Because the sand I have is sugar size, how do you keep the powerheads you have now from creating sand storms?

if you are having softie and LPS corals
    you may struggle with 50 x flow IME (75 X 50 = 3750)
this would be an issue if you tried to achieve it with only 2 powerheads AT 1875 GPH each
as you end up with to much water being pushed in same direction

if you went with 4 power heads, rated at 900 gph each then its possible to to achieve IME
as this helps you spread the flow even further and thus you dont end up with areas in the tank that are not suitable for LPS or soft corals

my suggestion would be to get 2 of them 1st whilst you have softies and LPS
and then as you move to SPS, add an extra one later, and then another 1 if required later still
that way there is a gradual build up and a chance to acclimatise for the corals already in situ

Oh okay, makes sense, so if I went with 4 power heads at 900 gph each and maybe another of a lower gph, assuming I place them to create enough/equal flow I should be able to keep sps/lps and softies right?

I have a 72 gal mixed reef. I just put in a VorTech mp40 and it's amazing! I would recommend that. Almost forgot to add it has multiple settings of flow. It changes the flow cycle so the corals feel like they're in their natural habitat.

Its pricey huh! Is it worth the cost you wind? Do you have any other powerheads in your tank? adn what types of corals do you have, any sps?
