Powdery-White Sponge-like...

    Not sure if it's algae or bacteria? It grows under the rocks where the light doesn't hit and I am pretty sure it is from beneficial die off...What should I do? Taking each rock out one by one and washing them will cause a hude detritus cloud in my tank...plus there are so many living things in the rocks I don't want any more to die. Should I just invest in a couple more powerheads and try to baster it?

    could be scypha sponges? Cant think of any algae that would form a white powdery sponge resemblence. And bacteria is likely out of the question if it looks like a white sponge.

    Could be a large tunicate colony as well too....

    Would really need a picture to narrow it down.
