    i bought a porcupine puffer from my lfs and he is not eating at all, any suggestions?

    Some chain stores will feed them live freshater fish such as goldish. They can become addicted to the FW fish, which can eventually lead to liver disease, and the puffer will not take natural food any longer. Did you watch him eat at the LFS? If so what did they feed? If you don't know, I'd be on the phone with them to see what they were feeding them.

    What have you tried to feed?

    May sound Funny but I always ask to see the fish eat before I buy

    It's always good to see how they react when food is dropped into tank and also what they are feeding.

    So gfunk any luck with the puffer????

    I always dangled large krill in the tank. The oil from the krill made my puffer go into a feeding frenzy and he would poke his whole head out of the water like a dolphin to get the krill.
    Puffers naturally dwell at the bottom eating crab and shrimp. If your puffer is ocean caught he will be at the bottom, if he is tank raised he will be near the top.

    ohhh you should of heard my trigger eat like a total pig! he would make these obnoxious chomping sounds on anything that would drop in the tank!!;D

    sorry havent responded but hes eating now i tried feeding him mysis and half clams he didnt eat them but i eventually got him to eat fw feeders and now i have him on half clams
