Has anyone ever used a pool store to cross check their chemistry? We've had a 21,000 gallon pool for maybe 10 years now and it just now crossed my mind that when they test our numbers, they are giving PPM values for alkalinity and Calcium as well as providing salinity and pH values. Their techniques can't be any less accurate than ours. In fact, I would say their techniques are probably a little bit more reliable.

Of course, I wouldn't use this as my main source or only source, but it would be interesting to see their figures next to mine.

They also test TDS if you want to check your RO/DI.
