i am going ot get T5 kighting and new substrate
I have a 55 gallon tank that is 48 inches long
Any FW plants (beginner) that you can suggest wouldbe great!
I plan to make a densely populated (with plants) natural looking setup

Ambulia, Java Fern, Java Moss, Rotala indica, Hygrophila corymbosa, Amazon Swords, Anubias species, Cryptocoryne species are all good starters.

www.aquariumplants.com has a beginner's plant section I believe. That will be a good place to start.

    Ok thanks
Later today I will make a final (first) stocking list. Meaning what I put on the list will be the first batch of plants thaqt go in. I think I read that I will only have to put ferts in after a year of the tank being setup? I like the amazon natural substrate on aquariumplants.com...can I use that...if so how much should I use for a 55 gallon 48 in tank?
How do I go about putting ferts in?
    Are they just like liquids?
And lastly do I just plant the plants by putting the roots under the substrate?
    Sorry...a lot of questions..LOL
    Thanks a ton

Yes you can use it and I would get at least 5 gallons, that will give a 2' depth.

I would start adding ferts in at the first sign the plants' growth is slowing down or they are not looking good. I suggest using the aquariumplants.com Total pellet fertilizer.

You will need to put some of the stalk under the substrate as not all plants will come with roots.
