    They look like Pineapple sponges. Safe and don't usually last long term.

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Not bad, usually found in dark areas of the sump and behind equipment. They begin to die off as a tank becomes more established especially in ultra low nutrient systems. Sometimes I have had them last years, sometimes they just disappear.
