I have a Pink Milli that is turning white at the bottom is it ok? I have it about 8 inches under a 250 watt mh light. It has a high flow of water, I do a weekly 10% water change so I wouldn't think any of the water levels would be off. Please let me know thanks. [IMG]

That is to close. Did you acclimate it to that amount of light?

It's bleaching because it's burning. You probably should move it down as low as possible and shade it slightly until the color begins to come back. Then slowly move it into the position you want it to be in.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Yup got to agree. Move it down to acclimate, 250 watts and that close is too much for a new frag of a coral.

Guys, I would agree that it could be bleaching from light if the op said top down... But they said base up.

Base up makes me think it's an issue from the rock, maybe releasing phosphate or nitrate from the rock itself. What color did the acro turn? If it turned light brown then I'm pretty sure it's nutrients from the rock.

But you have to consider the age of their bulbs and the distance from the corals.

I know my LFS do not change out their MH bulbs are routinely as they should, those are expensive bulbs and they tend to use them way passed their prime.

Does the white area still have flesh that has lost color or is it missing completely, exposing the underlying hard skeleton? Was it like this when you bought it or did it start after putting it in your tank?
