My rose bubble tip is giving me stress. Lots of details below.

For 3 weeks after I got it, my nem was huge, puffed up, happy, eating, etc.

A couple/few weeks ago I thought it had split. Turns out it had just moved half of its body through a hole in the rock and kept the other half on top. The next day it pulled the rest of its self through. Ok. No harm yet.

So it's been hanging out on the underside of a rock, in a dark cave, for several weeks. Getting no light. After a few days it shriveled up and then started expelling waste. Ok - I read about this. Black/brown goo stopped coming out, thought nem would come back to form, but no.

It has stayed very shriveled up and deflated for weeks now. Last night it looked like its foot was coming off the rock/or folding in on itself, etc. I also noticed a few of his tentacles coming off!

I tried researching, but nothing I found was all that helpful. I know anemones can go through really weird phases and freak their owners out, but this has been weeks.

    Water params - 0
    pH - 8.2
    Salinity - 1.025
    Temp - 75

DEAD? Dying? Pull out? Leave in?

Sorry to hear Kacy, I am afraid it may be too late for the nem. I have read of this happening to others but never a reason why. Keep your carbon changed and fresh to protect the tank and watch closely. Be prepared to make a very large water change. UGH!!!!

I run an 8 bulb Tek5 system. Geisman bulbs - I can't remember exactly what's in there, but some amount of daylights, Aquablue plus, one purple, etc.

I was feeding about every other day or every 3 days. The place I got him from said he was being fed about every other day, so I kept doing that. Now I realize that's a lot, so if he pulls through I'll cut down to once a week.

Opened up he was about 8-9 inches across. Now he's the size of a quarter! Has not lost any color though.

Ugh, dreading the huge water change. I guess I should start making water, it takes forever with my RO/DI system.

I just put in fresh carbon.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
No that does not look good.

I would test for ammonia and if the anemone detaches I would remove it.

Sorry Kacy, very unusual. I would have to say most likely a bacterial infection.

If no ammonia and it remains attached I would watch for awhile.

My fiance pried him off the rock.

I'm so bummed. I thought since he was still looking so awesome after a couple weeks that it would go smoothly.

But I can't risk my whole tank for him when he looks 99% dead. There was no reaction from his tentacles at all.

    I don't think I'll try another one. :(

I was really loving him. He was also tank bred/raised and all that so I thought he would be a bit hardier.
