pH too high way to high

    Ok as my tittle says pH too high way too high what can I do to lower it.BTW my pH is at 9.0 everything else is wher it should be Ammonia, No2 and No3 are zero calsium a bit to high 480.

    when in doubt, do a water change...i prefer that over adding chemicals of any kind..

    What are your alkalinity and magnesium levels at?

    I agree with flipnap. Not many water params problems cannot be fixed readily, by doing a couple significant water changes. Or more frequent ones.

    You just wind up chasing your tail and spending $ using additives.

    How did it get so High

    HI,
    MAybe you used to much Baking soda?
    Try to only use saltwater buffers to adjust your KH, only after you check your level.
    If you only adding one element it will cause a cascade of problems.

    I dont have a magnesium and alcalinity test.

    I think i will do the water change about 15% or so for a few days then add marine buffer.

    Are you dosing with Kalkwasser? It will raise your pH. A high alkalinity level will help to maintain a high pH. Try adding a little vinegar to your water, the acetic acid will tend to lower your pH level, just be careful not to doo anything to quickly!

    Have you tried testing it with another test kit? Perhaps the one you have is contaminated or expired. Not saying the other suggestions are not good ones...but can't hurt to double check first.
