No it's on the high end, the issue is the swing, snails and inverts do really poorly with pH swings.

Also dose buffer in the am at the beginning of the photoperiod when the pH is the lowest, but I would not buffer for a pH of 8.3. What was the alk?

alk was kinda low, 7.ya, i knew i was suppose to dose alk in the am due to the ph drop after lights out, just kinda slipped my mind. its dropped to 8.7 so it should get down to safe levels within a day. hope its not too much stress....

Was your pH probe in the same chamber you dosed into? Assuming that you dosed into a sump of course.

If so I wouldn't worry to much. The pH will be a lot higher in the immediate area that the alk mix is dosed.

I dose into the return chamber of the sump and my probe is in the over flow on the tank. It takes a good five minutes for my pH to rise even a couple tenths. That's why I'm wondering if you dosed real close to your probe.

Is it not recommended that you only increase your dkh by a maximum of 1dkh per day?

Maybe that would prevent such a large increase in pH :)

The recommendation is no more than 1meq/l or 2.8 dKH per day.

    Ph jump is normal ben.
