Depending on how big he is, you may be fine with the 10g for a bit, but you'll need a bigger tank at some point as those fish are capable of growing to over 8 inches.

    Hi Amcarrig

please bear in mind we are talking about a parrot fish?
there has only been 5 threads, so IMO there are 3 threads left

then all the pieces of eight can be merged

    Plants

My parrot fish tank, now a 30 gallon, is thickly planted with plastic plants.Won't those have to be thinned out as the parrot grows larger ?You will not believe what I have selected as one of its tank mates. My veritail goldfish was being was being bullied terribly in my 10 gallon. It was just a matter of time before he would be dead. I googled goldfish & it said that generally they should be kept in water 0f 70F or lower, they would be fine in temperatures up to 84F. I put him in my parrot. @ first the parrot really picked on him, but it looks like they have come to terms today. In that tank, I also have 6 pearl gourmais & 3 cat fish. I would say it is fully stocked.

    How Many

I have 1 parrot fish & 3 cats in a 30 gallon. He is just beginning to change color. I see a greenish ( almost turquoise ) color on his tail fin & on his sides. I guess he is not going to be one of the all powerful reds, but I'm sure he will be beautiful.
