    I have 1 parrot fish in a 10 gallon tank. How much success can I expect ?

    How big is it? Is it just a temporary thing or are you planning on keeping it in there? If so you need a bigger tank.

    First, Parrot fish can grow quite large and it will not be happy in that small of a tank, they like to swim. Another thing is, they need stony coral to eat. It aids in their digestion and without it they will die, I know from experience.

    10g is way to small, not all parrots eat coral. They certainly dont need it to survive, most species (all but one, Scarus quoyi) will eat your corals. Are you sure you are talking about a Parrot Fish, from the family Labridae?

    At the top of the page it lists the categories of the threads right under the 3reef logo

    3reef Forums > Freshwater > Freshwater Aquariums > Parrot Fish

    I usually never look there myself but once I saw parrot fish I wanted to make sure we were talking about the correct ones
