I was wondering if anyone had any reviews on these par30 leds from boostled, they look nice but thier so cheap(is thier a catch to them). I was thinking about getting them for a 15g tank( i want to grow sps). Will these be good enough for sps as main lighting? If so how many of these will I need? BTW i want a 3:2 ratio of blue to white, not sure one the optics though(any opinions would be nice). Here is the link BoostLED

I have a blue one they seem ok.

Of couse they have yet to with stand the test of time. Since I use mine as a supplement I can't attest to it growing corals.

They should grow sps in sufficient quantities.

Do a search here on 3reef. Quite a few of us are already using them and I think it'll answer most of your questions.

On a 15 gal. With hopes of SPS you'd probably only need two bulbs with 40 degree optics in the color you want.

I did read quite a few of them but i want to know how many I will need to grow sps in a 15g tank, for those of you who have them and know how the coverage is.

I would say that you need two of them. I am using a single one on my fuge.

I would use no less then 3, the led's provide a very intense light but only right below it. To get adequate coverage for a dominant sps tank you need a good amount of them.

IMO 3 is overkill for a 15 gal. I'd say start with 2 and you could always add another if budget allows,and/or you feel your occupants need more.
