this is my first ever build thread. we are in the process of putting together a 29 gallon reef setup. Some years ago, I had a 55 gallon reef, but was forced to take it down when I moved. upon getting married, I my wife has become very interested in reefing from all over the things ive told/shown her and we have since started up a tank together.

Heres what I have done so far:

29 gallon AGA main display. I drilled the tank myself thanks to glass-holes .com, and built a corner overflow.
I made a sump from a 10 gallon glass tank from petco.
I have my old remora skimmer with the maxi-jet 1200
I have a current USA power compact fixture with moonlights. (1 65w dual daylight, 1-65w dual actinic)
using a hydor in line heater that is plumbed in with the return line.
I have just added the jbj oceanstream powerheads with the wavemaker box.
I have added about 40lbs of dry rock that I kept from my previous system.
we went and bought a few pounds of cured rock from lfs and added to help seed the system.
We have put in 40lbs of fiji pink live sand as well.

I used ro/di water and instant ocean salt to fill the tank.

Been up and running for almost two weeks and my parameters are as follows:

    specific gravity-1.025
    PH-8.2
    temp-80f
    ammonia-0
    nitrite-0.5
    nitrate-10

we added two small doses of fish food to help the bacteria process begin

the diatom bloom is very much starting to take over the tank!

ill add a few random pictures of the build process

    any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Looks good so far! I'm excited for you! It's great that your wife supports your hobby although that might be dangerous :) Looking forward to seeing your progress!

that's the definition of a keeper ... Mine could care less. Although she did get upset when one of my hermits ate my new snails.
