Anyone have any idea what this is? It's orange/translucent. It came on some live rock. It seems to be scared of light.

Yup, definitely bristle worms! Beneficial to some extent, you just don't want an over abundance of them...certain fish and inverts will help to keep them in check along with not overfeeding!

which ones keep them in check? If the live rock in a new setup is infested with them, would you get rid of the rock?

IME that kind bores holes in the rocks to make them more porous. I had solid rock in a tank for 3yrs and when I pulled it out, it was extremely porous and full of those worms.
