    It is a threatened species. They did, however, try and release it. They claim they always release them. This one was just in too poor of shape to release.

    I didn't mean that in a hippy/pita type of way. Just reminded me of a time I caught a swordfish and it was 1/2" too short and we had to let it go and it ended up dying as we tried to revive it. In this case, that bad boy has been out there lurking for quite some time to end up on a hook for his last call.

    Apex predator my left foot!!! Who's got two opposible thumbs and eats everything below him on the food chain?! Those guys. In all seriousness I'm glad they are stand up enough to eat it. I hate trophy hunting. Last spring I was fishing in the keys and they spotted a sailfin, I just wanted to keep flat-lineing for yellowtail because I eat those.
