i had to take rocks out of my tank to catch a fish this morning and accidently tore my green bta's foot and now he shrivelled up. I am under the impression that with good water quality and current he can heal himself up. Can someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

I cut them into Half's and or quarters depending on its size to propagate them all the time BTA are the easiest . I honestly do not see a huge problem I slice then right down though the oral opening on through the base all the time..

thank you tangster do you do anything when you cut them to make them heal easier or leave them and when you say you slice them you mean completely in half?

You need to put them in ultra clean water with enough minerals for them to heal, in other words, stable new mixed water you would use for a water change. Mix a little of the tank water too. Here is a video that shows how to split an anemone:

Just cut it all the way through it's mouth and foot evenly. Make sure your knife is clean and sterile if you decide to do this.
