    Hey all,

Just wondering if i should be concerned about either of the types of algae that I am seeing in my aquarium. The tank is cycling and is 17 days old. I am using ro/di water.

    Water parameters:
    Ph 8.2
    Ca 430
    Alk 8.4
    Mg 1290
    Ammonia <.25
    Nitrite .4
    Nitrate 80
    Phosphate undetectable

    and a photo

I am concerned about the yellow algae as it seems to be spreading and also the green upshoot of algae as well. I recently had a diatom bloom that seems to be on its way out.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Did you use live rock?

That looks like it could be a type of Chaeto.

I would turn the lights out for 4-5 days and see if that nips it in the bud.

Yes live rock and live sand. Is it possible that my chaeto from the sump refugium escaped to the dt?

    Thanks for the quick response

Yes that is indeed possible. Chaeto looks kind of green and slimy when it's dying off, or the chemistry of the tank is not stable.
