    Not to steal the thread but.....I definitely just got rid of my bioballs. I had filterfloss and bioballs int here. Left the floss, tossed the balls, nitrate started dropping...

    Good thread. I use both a denitrator and a fuge to control my NO3.

    If bio balls are kept clean (drip tray or the like over them) they can not produce Nitrate (no detritus).

    Yeah, mine were just stuffed in a filter between some floss :shifty:

    Have enough LR 1 1/2 to 2 LBS x your aquarium size. I dont have a refugium or a denitrator and have 0 nitrates. I have about 60-70 LBS of LR in a 46 gallon

    this is actually how i've been "controlling" it too. I have 0 and have almost 2lbspergallon...

    I'm less than a year into this tank though, so long term I will add a denitrator at some point.

    No I am not running any Bio balls... I'm running carbon in my skimmer.. And running amonia/Denitrifying media. Im my filter
