new to supplements

    I have 26 bowfront that is about three months old. I am going through the dreaded algae stage. I am going to be buying supplies soon to test magnisium will this have a negitive effect on any other chemistry based parts. As in if i add magnesium will my calcium drop or anything of that nature. I will buy the test kits and only dose if my levels are low i also will be getting strontium. I guess in all this im asking should i watch out for anything or do any trace elements bump heads.
