    Hello all,

I'm fairly new to the aquarium scene. Setting up my first tank with the help of a friend. I just wanted to ask if dwarf puffers are something I want in a peaceful community tank. The guy at my LFS wasn't sure if they were aggressive or not.

Other fish will include some tetras, neons, and a plecostamas (sp?).

    Thanks.

    Hey Spur,

Dwarf Puffers are aggressive for their small size. I wouldn't keep them in a tank with neons. They're also very teritorial. You can find out more about DP's here.

I would agree, they are down right mean. Plus they do better in more saline (brackish) environments. Not a good mix for other FW tropicals.

You also can not put any snails or shrimp with Puffers becouse they will eat them.

They are aggressive, but they do not need brackish conditions. They are great for controlling snail populations, but they only do well in species-only tanks.
