New powerheads make fish sick

    I had to replace my powerheads afte my urchin ate the cords. So i bought 3 new koralias 24hrs later mt hippo tang and two chromis fish are breathing heavy and wont come out. Is it possible that the new powerheads had something on them?

    omg same thing happend to me were did u et yours at, my is a from the big als 50 percent off sale. i just want to no if their connected, but he did have great service

    It might be possible, did you guys rinse the poweheads before installing them into the tank?

    Always rinse all the equipment..

    Learned that the hard way in my FW tanks years ago .. :(

    I never rinsed power heads or any other plastic I put in my tank. I hope that's not too bad!

    Maybe there's some other cable left in the water and the urchin got to it? It could be leaking some voltage to the water. Does it shock you?

    no i dident, also my fish dident eat and went swimming what are your doing, they just stilling their on the sand breathing crazy fast

    Lack of surface agitation can definitely contribute to badly oxygenated water. Did you have a sump/skimmer or some other way to aireate the water for that week without power head?

    yes i have sump, skimmer, open top. i have no badly oxygenated water
