so i have a 29 gallon tank which is 30" long 12" wide and 19" tall it is a fowlr tank. there is a 24'' 17w t8 bulb in my current fixture. i want to get a new fixture but i dont have much $$$ right now. Is there a fixture i can get for less than $150 that is more appropriate for my tank. please give a few options and the less it cost the better itd be for me but please give me a variety of different priced fixtures. and also i dont plan on getting it for a few months so what bulb can i use to replace my current one i know its a bit older since i go the tank used with that light. it is a 30" strip light the brand i believe is all glass aquarium 20w.

why do you need new lights, lights on a fowlr are specifically for viewing purposes, but if you plan on keeping coral there are some pc and t5 fixtures for that much. just for softies. also you could go on craigslist and buy used. usually theres some great deals on those places.

i do want some corals that dont require intense lights and a fixture that dosnt cost so much. wat bulb would you recommend i replace my current one. do brands matter on t8 bulbs or what kind if seen a few different kinds.

i dont believe t8 would be a reliable rixture for coral, for some soft corals pc's or t5's would do fine

    4x24w t5ho fixture...

heres a decent one people have been using lately on theres..

    24" - 30" T5 HO Aquarium Light Hood Cichlid Marine 96W - eBay (item 290528333047 end time Feb-27-11 13:06:35 PST)

36" T5 HO Aquarium Light Hood Cichlid Saltwater 156W - eBay (item 110640755116 end time Feb-25-11 04:59:53 PST)

these arent the best, but they are good enough for someone on a budget..i would get the 36" and you will have just a little bit hang over which will be fine and help with dark spots in the tank..

and you should be able to house anything but sps
