New green algae on rock

    I have this green algae growing on some rock. Could I simply take a stiff brush to it and get it off and hopefully let the skimmer take it out or would it possible spread by doing that?

    That looks like a Macro algae, the good algae. I have Halimeda in my display and it looks like that although I can't see the actual shape as good as you can, so, here is a pic of the Halimeda in my tank. See if lookas like it.
