Just switched from a single 150w MH bulb to 216w of T5 (4 bulbs). Its an oddysea fixture, i replaced the bulbs with ATI. However, i have algae now that i didnt have before. I have my own home made CO2 reactors. And i dose flourish. It is time for my next water change.

Lights are on (all four) 12-8 most days. Maybe an hour or two more on weekends.

    Params:
    Nitrate: 20
    Ammonia nitrite:0
    Ph: 8.2

I have a lot of plants also.

The algae is slime and some hair algae

May help but more importantly you should be acclimating your tank to the increased wattage of the new fixture. Either shorten your photoperiod and slowly increase or raise your fixture and slowly lower to your tank...8)

I was running my old lights around twelve hours. Should i start these at six hours and slowly increase. I dont want to hurt my plants of course

Between the Flourish and new lights, that'll do it. Cut back on both. 12hrs is a little long on running. 8-9hrs is sufficient.
