I have two of these. Around the same time several new and inexplicable things started to grow. This is the first of new things to ID in my tank I've been able to get a pic of.

I haven't added anything in quite some time.

I have not touched it. It appears calciferous. <- weird word

They both started as little nubs and have grown similar to SPS. I am pretty sure their shape is based on the flow patterns. But maybe not. Honestly I am not sure if it's growing from the tip or from the base.

The amount of green varies but the whole thing is never green. It's always from the tip back. Sometimes just the tip is green. It goes back and forth in coloration (but not movement, it does not sway). It only gets longer overall.

Green areas are 'hairy' and the 'hairs' grow in nice little rings. These do wave in the current in such a way that suggests they are stiffish.

    Neomeris sp.

EDIT: I think the word is calcareous.
EDITEDIT: Calciferous is the word, not calcareous.

I use to have a rock with quite a bit of neomeris on it. I took it out after finding a thread on a different forum about an infestation of it. It completely took over his tank. Worst part about it was since it was calcareous, nothing really ate it.

These two got pretty long. One is still there.

Last week the other fell to the bottom, released its head/tip and it has been moving around in the current - not sure where it went.

I took the "body" out. It is very much like handling a snake body. Only really tiny; but the way the "skin" is and the way it moves - it is very similar - only more fragile.

I guess these are calciferous, but they are not like an SPS at all.

    Just thought I'd share.
