Need help with wiring.. am I missing something?

    That is not a true splice. All that is is twisting each wire end first, then twisting them onto each other & then soldering. That's the same as twisting two ends together & putting a wire nut on it.

    Thank you sir. Install heat shrink tubing FIRST! ;D On each wire end I loosen the wire (to puff it out). Then I join both ends together by interlocking them. Then I give it a very light twist to hold so I can solder with it not coming apart. Let it cool down, now slide tubing back over & shrink it.

    heh butt connectors are mil-spec, solder aint. ;D

    lol man didnt think this was that complicated but i can understand what a pain it is when you dont have the proper parts. Good thing reefsparky helped ya i work the industrial side of electrical work and have only soldered electronc switches for lifts and that was one time we use butt splices all the time but DEFF use some kind of shrink wrap or liquid tape dont want any of that salt water or any moisture in it but sounds like your doin good this will be a learning experiance for you it seems lol

    I agree! I ordered that plug set. It comes in tomorrow, so I won't have to worry about butt splicing and nut twisting. :-X:eek:
