My friend just started up a 20g tank and he bought the smallest clown fish i have ever seen. He told me they called a it nano clown, I have never heard of a nano clown fish. Do they exist or did they just sell him a baby percula clown?

It would be either a baby perc or ocellaris. Both are suitable for a 20g.

No such thing as a "nano clown". Probably some sort of misunderstanding, but its probably a young ocellaris.

Never heard of them or maybe they named them "nano" clowns due to the size. Lets see some pictures so we can properly identify them...this would be the safest bet as to know what type of fish your friend have!

they are probably just baby clowns, i had two in my nano (half an inch to 3/4 of an inch) and a word of warning, they can not out swim the suck on a aquaclear 70. one of the clowns found this out the hard way when he darted for food that was getting sucked up

I recently came across these clowns myself. 1 inch Ocellaris that appeared to be adults and labeled "nano-clowns". I am looking for information on them and will update this when I find it.

That is weird. I think they are most likely just baby clowns.

Although sometimes you can find some cool baby clowns.

I found this one just now. It's maroon and white, with some blue too!

Ocellaris clowns are all born male and stay that way for about the first year, than become female. if they are paired or in a tank with multiple ocellaris clowns, one will become the dominant female and the others will remain male until the female dies or is removed. fish biology 101
