My zoa's are exploding....

What exactly is happening to my zoa's? They have done this before, ballooning up but then go back to normal, today one of them exploded and is now an empty balloon.

 

I have absolutely no idea. wow. That can not be good.

Do you have a mushroom near them?

 

I have spent the last 10 minutes looking for an answer.

Questions

1. Are you dosing anything, anything at all?
2. All parameters including magnesium have been tested?
3. Any recent additions or changes ie: filtration..

Do you have any hydrogen peroxide?
Are there other zoanthids in the tank?
How long has this been going on?
Your sure one burst?

 

Good eye! I suppose mesenterial filaments from a mushroom or other coral might be an issue.

 

I do have a few mushrooms lurking close to them. I have been trying to get rid of them but they are relentless.

 

I also have a frog spawn about 2 inches from them.

 

Could be a negative chemical reaction with the Mushrooms is what I'm thinking..

 

Im dosing Brightwell alk and cal.
Parameters are a little off but nothing horrible.
Haven't added anything in a while.

I do have hydrogen peroxide.
I do have a few other zoa's but across the tank.
It comes and goes every other month or so id say.
I am sure one burst, looks like when a bubble algae bubble pops.
