I've never seen him do this before, but it doesn't mean he hasn't. It looked hard and calcerous to me but when I fished it out is was mushy and fell apart. It also smelled really bad. So did my anemone just take a doodie or is it more serious?

    Thanks!

    +1 to ^^^

Appears it may have swallowed something a bit too large.

My RBTA would do that with silversides sometimes. Don't think its too unusual.

Yep, not unusual at all. However, it can become stressful if it happens too frequently, or it may even cause an internal bacterial infection which is usually fatal. It's better to feed them a few smaller pieces rather than one large one. Nems have a very rudimentary system that lacks digestive enzymes, and must rely on decay for nutrition; small items will break down more rapidly and present far less risk.

Thanks! I haven't really been feeding him anything big....mysis, cyclops, krill....perhaps he got ahold of an algae pellet or just took in too much. He has positioned himself in such a way that A LOT of food flows by him during feeding.

I will re-assess if it happens again.

    PS - I checked....no fish missing :)
