    Heres a ship my brother just finished.The Battleship Nagato 1/350 scale.Took him over a year and about 350 man hours but the detail is incredible.

    That's insane. Well done.

    Now for an idiot question, since the only experience I have is with RC car kits:

    So, given amount of work, does it mean he molded all his own pieces? Or does this come as some kind of kit, and it just takes a long time to assemble/paint in detail?

    Yes what you are seeing comes as a kit.Hasegawa in this case. You are looking at thousands of pieces made of wood, metal, and plastic.The basic form and superstructures are all finely molded plastic parts.The decking is real wood planking that is wafer thin.(sold seperately).The metal parts come on large flat sprues the are made of very thin metal called photoetch.There are 3 Photoetch accesories sets (sold seperately).They included all the railings, ladders,antenna, etc.These in most cases must be bent/shaped then glued and painted. If you save these pics to your computer and blow them up a little more you will even see the tiny windspeed indicator at the very top of the main superstructure, Lifeboat railings and antenna all the little float planes had to be painted and assembled.Etc. etc.So yeh its alot of work but actually very relaxing if you can find the time.lol
