Diatoms and hair algae come with any newly setup tank. No real way to get around it.

I have not had an algae outbreak yet, tank is going on 3 months old. Should I be worried or did I just happen to avoid it by some miracle?

There is only 5 small fish and clean up crew in a 150 gallon. I get quite a bit of algae on the glass every couple days but other than that its clean. wish my freshwater tanks would have been like that.

maybe your live rock is leeching some phosphate that is fueling the hair algae...I just know from reading on here that new tanks will go through various algae type outbreaks as it matures. Yours has chosen to be hair as part of that process unfortunately.

It's just Diatoms and hair algae, Like someone said earlier there's no real way to get around it. Get your Phosphates checked and lower by running a GFo phosban product and higher the PH by 2. Also to quicken it up maybe you could try a sea hare to eat the hair algae? Then return it right when it's all gone.
