I just recently decided to get back into this hobby;D. I really made the decision to go with a planted tank after i saw the ADA product book and was amazed at what looks you can achieve:drool:. I have not had a tank since my dad had his 85gal reef tank, which is another reason i wanted to start off with freshwater and work my way into salt water in the future.

I would say it's only around 60-70% complete, my goal is to basically achieve a tank such as the ones in the booklet but i know it could take a while haha.
I am pleased how it has come out so far, but my next step is to completely cover the ground to achieve that grass field appearance and add more tall plants in the back ground and corners.(i would remove the tall grass currently near the middle).

Right now the live stock consists of~
1x Tiger Oscar (may be moved to another tank later down the road)
    8x Neon Tetras
    1x Bamboo shrimp
    1x Red Cherry Shrimp
    1x Angel Fish
7x+ Rams Horn Snails(these guys multiply fast!)

    Plants~ Using yeast method Co2
    2x Lileopsis
    3x Different baby tears
    4x Rotala Indica
    3x Cabomba
and some other ones that i don't know the names

I could use some input also and it would be greatly appreciated

I have a small variety of food such as
    Spectrum small fish formula
    Hikari Krill
    Hikari Brine

Is there any other food i should considering?

Anybody have a suggestion on which type of plant to use for the bottom? Any grow much more rapid than others?

is it common when first adding an oscar that they will hide basically?

Aye - Oscars do eat anything they can get in their mouths, and they grow pretty big too. It wouldnt be my first choice of fish for a planted aquarium....
