Start saving your money to replace the prizm skimmer! Tell us more about your tank. How large, is it a reef or fish only. Oh, and welcome to the world of SW, this fun, frustrating and money sucking hobby;D

Here's some karma for good luck.

I third that...used to have a prizm and found it really didnt do much apart from make alot of noise. Replaced mine with a Coralife and it works a treat. :)

Good luck with your new tank....hope you have deep pockets! ;)

Definitely dump that Prizm. If you want a HOB skimmer look at the AquaC Remora or the Bak Bak 2. Can't say much about the powerheads since I don't know what size tank you have.

Definitely YES!!!!!! The sump doesn't do much for mechanical filtration other than add water volumne and surface area and a place to store equipment!
But, you should invest in a good skimmer and don't even think about skipping out on the skimmer or you will be asking for problems down the road as for your water parameters IMO!
