Mushrooms move normally to get to a shaded area......they also populate I had green ones on 1 side of my tank and they are still there.......but I now have them in many places in my tank in just over a year
Let them be unless you see then shriveling up as if they are dying then get them out as it is not healthy for your tank

I have had them connect to a tiny piece of crushed coral.....but usually they prefer to be on rocks

I have had several move and in doing so, it leaves a little bit of itself behind to make another mushroom. I've also had them move to get out of a high light or high flow area.

I have also had one completely let go and drift around the tank before anchoring on the other side of the tank....where it again moved half inch to the right to spawn a second mushroom.

Disc Anemones (Mushrooms) can and will move to a more suitable area. No point in fighting it- it will be an endless battle if you don't like where they stop and they don't like where you keep placing them.

Mushrooms can move!? Oh god, I never knew this!

Explains why I found one of my mushrooms on the other side of the tank.
