I had this mushroom for a little while now, it seems to be doing fine. While looking at the tank yesterday, i noticed something sticking out of the middle. When i looked closer i realized it was a hermit crab with just the tip of the shell sticking out.
I don't really mind losing the crab that much, what i really want to know is how to feed this coral. I don't see feeder tentacles, but i know it eats meaty foods now. I know I don't need to feed it either, but i want to. Also can someone give me an ID, or at least tell me what type it is. Thanks for any help.

just looks like a reglar mushroom. make up a name for it. theres really no specific name for shrooms. you can feed it krill brine mysis. anything small enough for it to get in the mouth. which im sure you know is in the middle. it will envelope the food item slowly so you may have to wait a cople seconds holding it there with tweezers. good luck and nice shroom!

Discosoma is the genus I believe. It may have been consuming a molt.

One of my corals ate a snail, so it happens! But like someone said above, it may have been a molt.

I meant genus. I should have said that. Thanks for the tip, that is what i wanted to find out. I will try later today. Thanks K+

    Thanks for the genus.
I don't think it was a molt, it was the shell i saw, I don't think the shell would be a part of the molt for a hermit.

What kind of coral ate ur snail?

It is a trachy. It was pretty cool! Swallowed the snail - very slowly - took like three days. After the snail was down, the trachy spit the shell back out!!
