Molting or dying??

hi guys, well my local lfs called me up and said they had a small CBS so i went ahead and grabbed it (see previous thread) And i slowly acclimated (alittle over 90 mins) and then it lost a "claw" it just fell off.....idk if he ripped it or idk but i see a "ghost" arm where the claw used to be and he didn't move at all for a full 24 hours, and i thought it was dead but today i found it moving, Is it molting? or dying?

I'm really confused

 

It doesn't sound like it's molting. Shrimp will go into hiding to molt and you will usually find the exoskeleton somewhere. Losing an appendage is not normally part of the molting.

 

What is a ghost arm?

 

mine didnt have arms when i got them. the next molt they both had huge arms. it its acting weird then it might just be stressed.

 

I'd just let him stew for a little while. It usually isn't a huge deal when one of them loses an arm. Like Gexx said..when he molts he will more than likely regenerate his arm.

 

sorry if i'm not using the appropriate term. by ghost arm i mean clear see through appendage where the claw that fell off used to be. its also very much smaller then the claw.
