I put some temp light on my tank, but still looking to replace my lost lights, I been browsing and found to good prospects for a MH lighting system
    1) is ADV Plus Metal Halide System
Individual power cords & power switches for MH bulb, T5HO bulb, and lunar.
    non-corrosive coated housing
    built-in cooling fan
    external HQI Controller
    tempered glass splash guard
    Mounting legs
Free Bulbs: 1x 250W 15000K double ended MH bulb, 4x T5HO 39W Actinic bulbs, 4x Lunar LED bulbs.
Optional hanging kit is available for purchase.

    2) Sea World Metal Halide Lamp 36 "(250W×1+T5 39W×4) Total 406W
Pretty much the same features, I know you get what you pay for, both under $200, I really don't have much of a choice now to be cheap :(

Careful with a single MH on a 36 inch tank. Your brace might be directly under the bulb blocking a large percentage of the light out.

Will its a 40 breeder, there is no center brace, but I was wondering how that single MH lighting would benefit the entire tank.

I'd go with a TaoTronics LED fixture, but that's just me.

    A 40 breeder is a great tank.
A 250 halide setup with T5s like you are looking at would handle it fine. Edit - I assume you want a lot of SPS corals?

I had a 175 halide on a 40 breeder back in the day. It covered it fine.

Can you post some links on these lights?

This really isn't needed on a metal halide thread. :p

A few SPS coral would be fine, I really haven't thought if there is any particular species of Coral I want to feature in my set up.

Some day I would like to get a 90g tank and feature the great barrier reef, since I don't think I will ever live this dream to go there, maybe I can make it, hahaha!

Since orignially I had 4 T5 HO set up and it was fine, I think the 250W MH with 4 T5's would work out fine also, I can place the more light loving corals directly under the MH and the Corals less light demanding of to the side, sounds like a plan.

My wife is going to brain me in a few days, I made the purchase ( MH ADV 36" Metal Halide Light T5 Reef Marine Coral 406W LED Leg Fan Odyssea ) I watched some comments on youtube on the Odyssea MH lighting system, some good tips on upgrading the cooling fans and most seem happy with them, more so since the fire issue has been solved and fixed, I guess.
The best thing is I can take back the duel T5 HO that I bought for a temp solution and apply that $85 towards the new purchase, maybe my wife won't beat me to bad, hahaha!

You should be able to grow anything you want with that fixture, I would look into upgrading the bulbs tho.
