So I'm relatively new to this whole salt water aquarium stuff. I've been doing my research on lights and I have a question about the Marineland LED lights. I have a 40 gallon breeder tank (that is not set up yet) and was wondering if maybe the double bright system would be too bright since my tank is a breeder. I've been looking for answers everywhere, but have come up with none. If anybody knows anything about Marinelands LED lighting system I'd be happy just to hear your thoughts and opinions!

    Thanks!

For coral? You'd want their reef leds, but they are quite low end.

They're pretty dim, and not all that powerful. Neither is suited for stony corals. Even the double bright will not sustain SPS.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that my tank will be fish and live rock only. I don't have any interest in keeping coral until I can sustain a fish only tank.

OK I think for a FOWLR tank then these would both work just fine.

I've seen a bunch of videos of the lighting systems and I've read reviews and I've only heard good things. Has anyone owned this light?

my tank came with a double bright. I think they are okay for fish only, but i think with fish only i would rather go with a cheaper t-5 unit, just so you get the best coverage.

Well my tank is 36 long, which is perfect for the 36in light. So I think I would be getting complete coverage. I also forgot to mention a pretty big deal breaker; I don't have a hood yet >.<

    You don't need a hood.
