    They tend to be difficult to care for and are not as efficient as other options...I'd recommend chaeto. It has great nutrient uptake and is so easy to prune- you just pull out a chunk of it.

    Right I was going to add that too. Last time I was in reefing was 3 years ago and mangroves were pretty popular.

    I think it takes a pretty big fuge and good number of mangroves to make it worth it.....

    they float buy my house all the time.. when I build my fuge I will add some to mine. Was also thinking about adding some oysters in as they grow all over my sea wall(will have to research the oyster part though).

    In a purely functional refugium they don't really have a place. They suck up magnesium and chaeto removes more nitrates. They look better though.
