Is this a female or just a young mandarin male?

I have another mandarin in the tank and these two seem to get along great except for the initial meeting. The LFS said this was a gal but I'm unsure. Any help would be appreciated. If it's a male I don't want it getting much bigger and then the two start fighting. They both are eating great with pellets and I've been feeding tigger feast every day and live tiggers twice a month.

It appears to be a female. That doesn't mean they may not scuffle.lol Your tank should be large enough though.

Thank you Mr. Vinny. I appreciate it!

The bickering has come to a halt as far as I can tell. They somewhat hang out. one will sit at the bottom of a rock and the other will sit on top of it. Time will tell how they will end up.

When I read the thread title,
I was thinking this was a lounge/off topic thread with pictures of people and deciding what gender model they looked like.

My minds not really in the gutter, may on the brim though

The dorsal ray is much longer on the male and has a slightly different shape/size.It can sometimes be snapped off making a male look female.Smaller Mandys are harder to tell.

I'll see if I can get a good pic of my for sure male when he decides to strut his stuff and post it.

I thought it'd get more attention with the name. :)
