Yikes! The aliens are taking over, I guess! Haha

It could be insect larva...I have two pieces of base rock in my tank that I bought from the LFS, so maybe there were eggs on them?!

    Gross!

Never seen anything like that in a marine tank. There were some grub like things in freshy tanks that sort of looked like that. But I have no idea. Hopefully pagojoe or someone like that will see this thread.

Edit: I second mailing them to Pongo, errr, I mean JWIN

    Bump.

I think we might have to pull out the big guns. I am dying to know what these are!!

Have there been any more? Maybe the insect larvae in the live rock theory explains it??

I'm still thinking they might have just fallen into the tank...
Lol two weeks ago I found a ROACH!! In my sump... I have literally no idea how it got there since my sump has a cap and the only way to get there is by the overflows. It didn't even got caught by the filter sponge.

I don't know about the falling in theory, lol. I've never seen anything like this around my house, and the only thing above the tank is the ceiling, which there is nothing on.

Maybe they were in the base rock...but I did rinse the rock before I put it in the tank.

This may remain a great mystery!

I'm with Chuck, I think they are insect larvae. I've seen a lot of stuff that lives in the ocean, but nothing that really looks like that. I'm betting they were either in the rock or in the food you are dropping in the tank. I'm guessing gnat larvae.

    Cheers,

    Don

Eeeek another one showed up last night!! Just thought I'd share. It seems like if they were insect larvae from something I bought at the store that they would all be out of the tank by now, since I've been doing weekly water changes and the tank has been set up for a bit over 3 months.

    Who knows?! But ewwww!
