I think that my mag-float is scratching the glass when I clean. I have taken it out many times to clean it and I still think it might be scratching the glass. There is also the possibility that I am just anal and didn't notice it before. Anyone else have this problem or know a solution? I am almost scarred to clean my glass because of this!

I've noticed scratches show up on all my tanks I've had over the years, don't know if its related to the magfloat or not....

If you have a tang, he may have scratched your glass

I dont see how a tang would be able to scratch the glass, plz educate me. I can only think of two possible scenerios.
    1. You bought the wrong glass cleaner for the job. Theres a glass and a acrylic cleaner.
    2. There is some sand thats caught inside the "brillo pad" pad and thats scratching the glass. OR
    3. You never noticed it before.

Is it a deep scratch or very fine scratches? Luna

7 year old glass tank...using mag-float, completely scratchless. :cheesy:

You may be making common mistake of stirring up sand and getting under float when cleaning close to sand line. :-[

Always give yourself 1 or 2 inches of clearance when cleaning along bottom with float.

I then clean that area up with a long handled scraper...

    Just a thought...;)

No more mag floats in my tank. I have found that using an acrylic approved scrub pad does a good job and has not scratched my tank since I started to use it a month ago. My mag float even started to scratch the outside of the tank.

If you get close to the bottom to clean the glass that's when it happens, the sand gets trapped in the velcro type surface and it will scratch the tank! I've done it before, just take it out and remove the sand pebble,s
