It looks like after 3 weeks of "curing" my first attempt at making rock is close to ready. I mixed up a batch (per the GARF method) & made 1 rock as a test. I let it dry in the sand cast for 2 days, ran a big powerhead on it in a tub for 2 days (changed h20 every day), soaked it in vinegar for 24 hours, then back into the tub with more tap water with the powerhead blasting it. Last nite I tested the water & it's at approx 7.5ph, so I think I'm ready to make some more rock. My son & daughter are excited about making more rocks, almost as much as me ;)
Sorry, no pics until I get another memory stick for my Clie'

No tricks yet, this was just a practice run to see how it turned out. I am gonna try the rubber glove technique, but what's the drill bit trick?

    No prob!
Basically just drilled a bunch of holes in it after it dried to make it more realistic and porous. Check out my thread on this thread for more.

    Here's my story.

I'm sure Oside can add some more on his experience.

    Question about cement

    Good morning,
I want to ask you if the produce of the “live rock” with cement is good for the reef tank. The live rock has a lot of things on it. The rock from cement what has? Can you please tell me some information about that?

    Thanks
