LR scrubbing quick question

    There is some algae on my LR that are fully cured, has been for a a year+ and want to scrub it off with a tooth brush before i redo myt rock work. QUESTION!! can i scrubb it off in a bucket RODI water? or does it have to be salt?

    To retain the biofilter and infauna (if any are present), it should be saltwater. My personal choice is to use old tank water after a water change.

    +1 to this. As Bill alluded to, putting live rock in RO/DI will kill off most, if not all, living organisms. Do it during a water change to avoid wasting water as mentioned :)

    +2. Using ro/di water will not only kill organisms on the rock but after adding the rock back to your system could possibly cause your tank to cycle or mini cycle due to the dead organics in the rock decomposing.
    Go with wc saltwater and you should be golden.
