aiptasia-x you use right in the tank.

on a side not, earlier post you said you werent sure if the tank cycled , are you testing for the cycling parameters? mainly ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and phosphates?

You can inject the boiling RO/DI water while the rock is in the tank.

    peppermint shrimps

I had trouble with Aptasia and bought two peppermint shrimps and these guys cleared it up within a few days, never had one since!;D

My father recently bought some live rock for his new tank and we have a 3 inch long sea cucumber come out of it. The closest Id for the critter is a Tigertail sea cucumber. should we just take it back to the shop?

    Welcome to 3reef Stearmen,

I have had a Tiger Tail Cucumber without incident. The Cucumber proved to be an excellent sand stirrer.

Peppermint shrimp are excellent in eradicating Apitasia, unfortunately some do go rouge and start eating corals and anemones.

    Thank you :)

My concern is its currently in a tank which is cycling meaning the cucumber will not have sufficient food, i tried transferring him to my tank and my tank has two 'A.Ocellaris' which are too interested in it. I read that the blue legged hermits and the clowns may upset the cucumber and wiith its defenses being so dangerous to the tank, i was unsure if it was a necessary risk? or am I over-reading the situation?

The Cucumber should bury it's self in short order.

I have heard many stories related to the toxicity of some Sea Cucumbers. Personally I have not experienced this with Tiger Tails or smaller Cucumbers, that is not to say it does not happen.

With that said I do not think a newly set up tank is a good idea for any sensitive invert. If you can't or do not feel comfortable with placing it in the established tank I would return it.
