Yeah, but his tank is not 1.5 meters (4 1/2 feet). His tank isn't even 2 foot long. A 45 liter tank is only 11 or so gallons. This lionfish is likely doomed to starve to death because it won't be able to hunt.

You only had the tank up and running how long before introducing the lion?

No way can a lion live in that small of a tank. I had one in my 75g and it was 5 months before it outgrew that tank. I sold it back to the LFS and it was sold to someone with a 135g. I has since been returned to teh LFS as it outgrew that tank!

Problem with those type of fish....not only do they have wide wing span...but are messy eaters and poo alot!

If you bought the fish from the same LFS stating that it is ok to keep it in such a small tank, then I would not trust them. 1. You stated its eyes were already cloudy...so he suffered blindness from them due to poor water conditions. 2. If he is blind then he can not eat..and will not survive

If it where a 100 gallon tank - that would be OK IMO
Lion fish are hardy as are groupers and in the world of the monster tanks, they are often the fish of choice for the cycle ( Damsels get lost in monster tanks)

its about what levels the fish can take, and the solution to polution is dillution (I dont recall who I am quoting here, sorry)

a Lion in a massive tank where the result of its waste was diluted into 100 gallons has a great chance

a lion in a 12 gallon tank producing the same waste - is going to be in a bad way

    IMO

Sounds to me like the "shop keeper" was trying to make a quick buck. Hope they even take it back. like schackmel stated "i wouldn't trust them".

That's what I meant to say** That with the size of the tank that's an issue.
