The problem is that you have a small tank, with a fish thats not suitable for it with a inmature filter

maybe someone later will offer different advice? chemi pure or prime to lessen the water quality issue

but my honest advise is a lionfish has no business in a 11.8 gallon tank so for its sake and yours , take it back to the shop

which part of "A 11.8 gallon tank is not suitable for a lion fish" are you having trouble understanding?

The problem is that you didn't listen to the advice given the first time. The tank is too small. The water conditions are likely unbelieveably poor, and the lionfish will suffer tremendously because of it. Please try to be reasonable when it comes to adding things to a 11 gallon tank. You wouldn't sell your house and start living in a garbage bin would you? Would probably be fairly cramped, poor living conditions, etc. Likely the way your lionfish feels.

hahaha good one, i needed a good morning laugh . . . +k for that.

seriously tho i'm still on the fence about adding a lion to my 125 because of how big their wing span can be and my tank is only 18" wide. IMO, get rid of the lion until you can properly house one.
