I have no marine macro algaes growing in my sump/refugium and I think maybe its time I do with all the issues I am having in my tank.
So I found this light and it's on ebay so I guestion it's effectiveness.

Finnex Nano Refugium Aquarium Light Blue LED 26 Watt

    Included: 30,000k - 10,000k, 3U Type, Energy Saving Blue/White bulb.

So how would this work out?

That would be more then enough. You could grow chaeto with a clamp on work light and a flourescent bulb that produces 6500-8000K

ohhh!! I thought a person needed some complex lighting for those, its about $25 for the light and about $15 to order the Chaeto.

Gosh no. My fuge light is a clamp on light with a 6500k compact fluorescent flood lamp. I think it's a 26 watt lamp.

No,you don't need intense lighting, just a bulb in the 6500k or lower range (phillips daylight cp corkscrew in bulb works great in a relector.I run a 13 watt (6500k daylight bulb) finnex cp light and it grows macros very well.

I didn't know there was 30,000k lighting, I assume thats the blue, you mention 6500k, this light is 10k, how is that light for growing?

I'd just go to lowes and buy a 6700k cfl bulb and hood for about $10-15

Chaeto will literally grow in the dark. (I've done it) I'm using a home-depot clamp on grow light for my mangroves, and it's actually too much. So take it easy with the lighting. a twisty bulb will do fine, probably.

+1 I have a very small amount in my QT that barely gets any light at all. It is not growing at nearly the pace it would with lighting, but it will still live and grow. In my 55 (30 gal sump) I use the Home Depot clip on with a 13W 6500K CFL. It is on from 8:30PM until 9:30AM. For my 28 nano, I bought a $2 3W 6000K 12V LED light, a base for $2 and a $3 12V adapter. I run this from 11:00PM until 6:00AM. I found that running it longer was actually killing it slowly.
